That night after school we decided to take him to GattiTown (similar to Chuck E. Cheese) to let him check out the pizza and games.  I wasn’t sure if he would be into it or if the stuff would be too old for him….. he LOVED it!!!!  See some of the action shots below…..

Thursday we had a big day- Doctor’s appointment, haircut and visit with Santa.  Cooper weighed in at an even 22 lbs and was 30 3/4 inches tall.  He is in the 39% for weight and 80% for height.  After Doctor Clifford’s office we went to chop off all the curls…..

I can’t believe it has been 1 year since our lives were forever changed!  It seems like just yesterday we were arriving at the hospital on a cold Sunday night waiting to find out if we would be parents to a little boy or girl.  I will never forget the Cervadil (spelling?) that was administered before I went to bed on Sunday night.  I will also never forget the screaming from the woman giving birth naturally in the room next door.  I will never forget Zach being able to sleep on the most uncomfortable couch, through the screaming.  I will never forget Dr. Norwood coming to check on me early Monday morning and starting the Petocin.  I will never forget laying in the hospital bed that morning having contractions but never dilating.  I will definitely never forget getting terrible pains in my side before receiving the Epidural.  I will never forget the monitor showing our baby’s heartrate dropping as the Petocin drip increased and my blood pressure dropping as well.  I will never forget Dr. Norwood advising us to have a c-section to ensure less stress on the baby.  I will never forget the concern on Zach’s face as they wheeled us into the operating room.  I will never forget the eternity it took after the baby was born to find out whether it was male or female.  I will never forget the excitement and joy of holding Charles Cooper for the first time.  I will never forget the feeling of fear and responsibility that comes with the birth of a child.

What a wonderful day that was.  What an even more wonderful day today is, one year later.  We have been blessed with the most handsome, smartest, funniest, most charismatic, friendliest, happiest, advanced baby boy!!!  Every day of this past year has been more fun than the day before (except maybe some of those teeth cutting days :) ).

In one year Cooper has learned to hold his head up. Smile. Drink from a bottle.  Roll over.  Sit up.  Eat rice cereal.  Eat baby food.  Clap his hands.  Crawl Backward.  Crawl forward.  Stand up.  Feed himself.  Drink from a sippy cup.  Drink from a straw.  Wave.  Say Dada, Mama, Uh oh, dog and sometimes up.  Walk.  Give Open Mouthed Kisses.  Signal touchdown with his arms.  Sign more and all done.

I told you he was advanced…. :)

“One” of a kind….

Tomorrow is the Man’s first birthday and to celebrate we had a party on Saturday night.  Here are some of the best pictures…..

Thanks so much to all our friends and family that came to celebrate!  Cooper had the best time and loved having all his friends over!

More, more, more….. teeth!

Sorry for the lack of blog updates but we have been busy… and teething.  :(   Which is not very fun I might add.  Cooper is quickly approaching his first birthday and is adding some more teeth before he gets there.  His top 2 teeth are coming in and it looks like 3 more up top are about to break on through.  It has not been fun.  He is doing much better this week so hopefully the end is near…. for now.

We have been teaching him baby signs and we are starting to communicate with each other!  Yeah!  It has been so cool to ‘talk’ to him and know exactly what he wants.  He knows 2 signs so far- more and all done.  :)   He is also starting to learn where his head, ears, mouth and nose are.

His first Thanksgiving was a success.  We had a small group at our house and had a wonderful day.  Zach did an amazing job roasting the turkey and all the sides everyone else brought were delicious too.  We are busy this week getting ready for his first birthday party on Saturday and his actual birthday next Tuesday!

Here are some pictures from the last couple of weeks…. enjoy!  I will post pictures from the big party next week.

His favorite toys- the wooden spoon and a pot.

Charles L Fuqua 1926-2009

This week has been difficult as we laid to rest Zach’s Polley on Wednesday.  He passed early on Halloween morning after being in the hospital for a couple of weeks.  He will be missed by all.  The funeral was very nice and although it was not the ideal circumstance it was wonderful to hang out with all the Fuqua’s.  Cooper got to play with his cousin Eleazar and they had a blast.  Unfortunately, I forgot my camera so I don’t have any pictures of the 2 little ones hanging out.  Ryon- send me those pictures!  :)

Cooper has a new game he likes to play in the living room.  He crawls between the chair and the ottoman after we put pillows on top so that it is like a little tunnel…..

Happy Halloween!

Cooper’s first Halloween was a blast!  We took him up to Zach’s office on Friday afternoon for a party and parade.  He loved seeing the kids all dressed up.  He didn’t get scared by the costumes at all…. here’s some pictures from Friday:

The Man wasn’t in the best mood Saturday evening but his Granna and Mimi came over to help with Trick or Treating.  He had more fun hanging out at the house watching all the kids come up to the door for candy.  We had so many kids we ran out of candy at 7:30!!!  Our Mom’s went out after Coop went to bed.  Here’s some pics from Halloween night.

Action Shots

We are getting ready for the big holiday tomorrow…. the Coop is going as a pirate…. Arrrrrrrr…………  We are still working on that one.  This past week has been a tough one as Zach’s grandpa (Polley) is in the hospital and not doing well.  Please keep Zach’s family in your prayers.

Last week I was cooking dinner and my Mom came by during the preparation and as she walked in the back door she started laughing.  She asked me ‘Jodi, did you put him in there?’ I looked at her oddly and asked ‘What are you talking about?!?!?!’ She responded ‘Cooper…. in the dishwasher….’ Here’s what she was talking about…..

For the record, no, I did not put my child in the dishwasher.  However, he did figure out how to put himself in there…. crazy baby.

We also had a wonderful visit from my Aunt Mary from South Carolina.  Unfortunately, we spent a large part of last weekend up at the hospital so we didn’t get to spend as much time as we would have liked but it was fun to see her.  Come back Aunt Mary!!!!

The Man is walking like crazy now and he makes the funniest faces while he’s doing it.  He gets this really big smile and it makes me laugh everytime.  I did my best to capture it as he was walking towards me the other night…

Baby Fest 2009

Another great TX/OU weekend!!!  My friend from school, TJ, came down for the weekend with his family which was so cool.  It was the first time I got to meet his little girl Hannah and what a cutie she is!  On Friday night the Parker family was gracious enough to invite us and the Tobars over for dinner.  There were 4 couples and 4 (with 1 more on the way) kiddos there- craziness.  TJ kept calling it ‘Baby Fest 2009′.  I can’t believe we spent the night before the football game at home hanging out with a bunch of babies… what happened to Across the Street Bar?!?!?!  Oh well- it was so fun to see all the kids interacting with each other.  The Man was definitely overwhelmed by the 2 ‘big’ girls when we first got there.

Zach and I went to a great party on Saturday during the game and had a blast- thanks again Courtney!  The Layton patio featured multiple TV’s, orange margaritas, kegs, build-your-own bloody mary’s, barbeque and jalepeno cheese grits.  My favorite part though was the custom cups for the party.  So fun… so much so that we were struggling Sunday morning.  :(   It is hard to take care of a small child with a hangover.

In other news, my grandparents sent the coolest new toy for the Coop.  It is a Radio Flyer Retro Rocket!  I think he is going to love scooting around the house on this ride.

Here are some pictures from the weekend…

Walking to Daddy

No…. no…. no!

Like any American male, Cooper loves playing with the electronics in our living room.  Specifically he likes turning the dial on the reciever that controls the volume of the TV.  It is a big knob that is backlit with blue light.  It beckons him.  Of course, we don’t like him to turn the dial because it messes with the volume of the television.  Last night the Man and I were playing in the living room and he started messing with the knob.  I told him “No” and he did his usual wave back to me and continued messing with the knob.  I then raised my voice and more sternly said “NO!” to which he started cracking up….. oh crap!  At this point it was hard for me to keep a straight face because he’s so freakin’ cute when he laughs.  I think we’re in real trouble here folks…….

Now for the good stuff……. enjoy and Hook ‘Em Horns!!!!

Fall is in the air….

A new season is upon us in the Fuqua house!!!  The temperature has finally dropped and it is nice in the metroplex.  The Man is pushing his ‘truck’ all around the house and learning how to walk on his own.  We are also trying to teach him to say ‘Uh oh’…. right now all we get is a grunt in return.  He’s trying though!

No new teeth to report- but he is feeding himself these days which is great.  We are however limited with what he can have.  I don’t know if it is better that he is taking longer to get his teeth or not… I guess we will find out shortly.

Ok- now for the good stuff… enjoy the pics and happy fall!
